Appeal to Donors:
It's difficult to put into words why I took part in a run to raise funds for the school in which I spent 14 years of my life. The School KFI in Chennai, India, shaped who I am today, teaching me how to be mindful of other people, new ideas and the environment. I remember being taught to ask myself three questions at the end of every school day: What did I learn today? How do I know I learnt it? Who made a difference to my day and why? This simple but profound exercise made me explore what kind of a person I wanted to be, and I still carry those values with me today. The School gave me the freedom and the confidence to be an artist. I picked up my first crayon at age 4 in kindergarten, and never put it down! The school, its incredibly dedicated teachers and its beautiful campus, opened up a world of expression and creativity for me. I will always be grateful for this truly unique space - where I was encouraged to discover my voice as a person and an artist, to ask incisive questions before accepting any truth, and to be open-minded and sensitive to other people and ideas. I can think of no better education for a child in the world we live in today. I would like to ask my friends to contribute to the relocation and construction of the library and dining hall, to help ensure that many other young minds will have the opportunity to learn to think differently and to bring about positive change wherever they may go.
