POSSIBILITIES FOR PROSPECTIVE TEACHERS

Full-time teacher at The School, Damodar Gardens, Besant Avenue, Adayar, Chennai.

Part-time teacher at The School, Damodar Gardens, Besant Avenue, Adayar, Chennai. (While we are interested in full-time teachers we do consider a few part-time staff for activities in science, art and craft; and for teaching specific courses to Classes 11 and 12.)

Full-time residential teacher at Pathashaala, (about 15 km from Thirukazhukundram on road leading to Kanuguzhi, 17 Km from Chengalpet via Ottivakkam, Chennai), a residential school. Applicants interested in teaching as well as working with land, food and construction are welcome to consider this opportunity. Outreach work at either of the two campuses. Applicants interested in working in the area of health, education, sustainable agriculture and livelihood are welcome to consider particiapting in the programmes of the school on a part time or full time basis.

Teacher Training Programme. This is a three month programme on the campus of The School from January to April (9am – 2.30pm), that orients the trainee to teaching at The School or Pathashaala. It does not automatically lead to a teaching position. Trainees after successful completion of the course are free to apply for a teaching position at either of the school campuses.

Volunteer. If you wish to volunteer your services to the school please write a letter addressed to the Principal indicating how you would like to be involved.

A note to all applicants 1:

We invite applications at all times of the year. You will hear from us usually in October or February if possibilities exist. Our interviews are held in November and March. However, if a need arises we are likely to write to you at other times as well and call you for an interview.

If you live outside the city and particularly, outside the country, and are serious about working at either of the schools it would be advisable for you to visit the school when travelling to Chennai so that you are better informed.
