Vasanta Vihar November 1998 Issue on
the occasion of 25th year of The School
Life (says Krishnamurti) is relationship,
and relationship (we say) is often painful. Krishnamurti wanted
his listeners to live in this world and yet be not of it.
He seems to have extended this dictum to the educational institutions
he founded. Though he located them in places of great beauty
and tranquility, he did not expect them to end up as ivory
towers.
The School-KFI, situated in metropolitan
Chennai, is a case in point. It is certainly not far from
the madding crowd; on the contrary, it is perilously close
to it. However, for the last twenty-five years, it seems to
have withstood the onslaught of the city that is forever progressing
in its noise and vulgarity. On the occasion of the school's
silver jubilee this year, some Trustees of the Foundation
and teachers reflect on its past, present and future in this
issue of the Newsletter. |
