FARM

The school owns 17 acres of land in a village called Kilapakkam, about 70 km south of Chennai. The school farm contains a large house, many tamarind trees and 7 acres of arable land. The farm provides the school with organically grown rice, and some of the vegetables required through the year. It also provides a context for students to learn to live simply, do their own cooking and cleaning, interact with the local community and do some farm work. It is sometimes also used as a context to learn self-study skills. All classes from class 5 onwards spend between 2 days and 1 week at the farm. Class 11 alone spends more time at the farm. The farm trip is an integral and non-optional part of the curriculum.

The school is also acquiring a larger farm near Vallipuram to extend its educational work as well as to establish a new centre.
