CURRICULUM - SENIOR SCHOOL

Classes IX & X

The council offers a wide choice of subjects, as a norm the school offers a limited range in classes IX and X. English, Social Studies and Environmental Education are compulsory. Traditional subjects such as the sciences and mathematics will be available. A choice between Hindi and Tamil would be available as second language. Other subjects may be offered from time to time. Some of the other subjects offered in the past are Yoga, Physical Education, Computer Applications, Environmental Applications, etc.

Classes XI & XII

The school has a special program for the class XI which has the usual academic components and in addition a exposure to social and environmental issues as well as an opportunity to challenge oneself physically and mentally.

The choice of subjects is not restricted to the conventional combinations. Students are free to apply for any combination of subjects and the school tries to offer the combinations asked for. The final choice of combinations would, however, be limited by constraints of time- tabling and will be finalised by April 15th.

The class XII programme aims at preparing students to meet the world. The focus is on individual initiative and taking responsibility.

Farm Trips: All classes from Class V onwards spend between 2 days and 1 week at the school farm. This trip is an integral and non optional part of the curriculum.

Field Trips: Different classes go on field trips to chosen locations. These trips form an essential part of the curriculum.

The school provides a free and unscheduled environment that nurtures observation, expression, reflection and enquiry. This is supported through well thought out contexts like:

  • Open House: Once a month all children of Middle and Senior School meet the teachers and raise any question or concern for the group to reflect upon.
  • Meeting with Senior School Students: The senior school students are invited to participate in and create joint ownership of the educational process.
  • Theme Meetings for all classes: The teachers and all parents of a class meet over a theme relevant to the whole class or age group.
