CURRICULUM - MIDDLE SCHOOL (Classes V - VIII)
MIXED AGE ENVIRONMENT FOR CLASSES 5,6 AND 7
From June 2007 we have Mixed age configuration for classes 5, 6 and 7. Approximately 9 students each of classes 5, 6 and 7 will be together in a classroom. Except for a few subjects all academic subjects will be in the Mixed age environment.
The subjects in middle school include English, Maths, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Social Studies (History & Geography), Sanskrit and a second language of their choice (Hindi or Tamil). The middle school attempts to function in an explorative, deepening manner that will widen the students’ awareness of the world. These are years where physical activity, craft and art, dance, field visits to historically and environmentally significant places also make up the spectrum of school experience.
Students from Classes VI to VIII go through courses in Environmental Studies, Health and Media each year. The teaching-learning processes through middle and senior school facilitate understanding, exploration, investigation and creativity. It is expected that students engage with the subjects they study and take responsibility for their learning as they grow older.
Lectures, projects, whole class and small group interactions, drama, discussions, audio-visual, laboratory work, field trips, reference work and self-study are some of the methodologies adopted by the school.
