| CURRICULUM - JUNIOR SCHOOL
CLASS I:
In class I the children are introduced to formal reading and writing. The curriculum is designed
to prepare the ground for entry into MAG.
MAG (CLASSES II TO IV):
Class II, III and IV work in a Mixed Age Group (MAG) context. Each MAG class
has children of ages ranging from 6½ - 9½ years. In addition to the academic subjects English, Maths and
Environmental Science, children are also exposed to languages (Hindi and Tamil) and activities- music,
art, pottery, craft and games as an integral part of their learning. A second language (Hindi or Tamil) is
chosen in Class IV.
The Mixed Age group classrooms have 20 - 25 students of ages ranging from 6½ - 9½ with one anchor teacher. This kind of grouping fosters naturally wholesome and healthy interaction among children of varying ages. Older and younger children learn from one another as well as teach other children. The teacher is not a centre for learning but a facilitator among the older and younger children in the process of their learning.
The school's intention is to discover and
nurture motivation for learning which is not born of comparison.
The Junior School programme is designed to facilitate self-motivated
and group learning.
